What is Lead Generation & How to Generate Leads Like a Businessperson
Lead generation & how to generate leads like a machine. That is the question that my friend asked me the other day. She is an internet marketer who likes to see prospects coming to her rather than being some elusive figure sitting on the sidelines observing the game. To her, it seems obvious that if you can build a team of people who are perpetually looking for new prospects, then you can do whatever you want from the marketing end of things and get a lot more done.
But I am here to tell you that there is no secret to it, and you don’t have to do it any differently than you would with any other kind of direct marketing system. You just need to use your imagination and develop a focus on helping people find the right opportunities. I know that some of you will disagree with me here, but I submit to you that there is nothing fundamentally different between lead generation & how to generate leads like a machine. In fact, the biggest difference is that you will be generating leads on demand rather than waiting for them to come to you. The ability to respond to the needs of prospects will set you apart from all the rest.
I know that this may sound as if I’m advocating some sort of socialization or soft sell. That’s not what I’m saying at all. I am suggesting that you take a lead generation system and develop the ability to convert it to being a powerful business tool. Don’t just jump into the process and hope that it works. Take the lead generation process seriously and make it work to your advantage.
So what is lead generation & how to generate leads like a machine? By definition, lead is the “purchasing of a product or service.” We all know that leads can be very hard to come by. But by taking the time to identify leads, identify what their wants and needs are, and then connecting with people who have those needs, you can provide for them by tailoring products or services to their wants and needs.
It takes work. But it doesn’t have to be hard work. There are a lot of examples of marketers who have made it their “secret” to generating “warm leads” on autopilot. I’m talking about internet marketing guru Eric Deertter. He has made this business thing work for him, but he has only done it because he took action.
He created a website where he could easily and almost instantly send out emails to anybody who had e-mail addresses. People were interested in his information so much that he was making a lot of sales because of that traffic. But because he took the time to generate leads, he wasn’t chasing after them. He created relationships with people, educated them, and taught them what he knew.
So there you have it. What are lead generation & how to generate leads like a business owner? It’s information.
When you’re building your list, always provide people with the kind of information they’re looking for. Always ask for permission before selling to them. You’ll learn how to do that once you get a little more experience in the business.
What is lead generation & how to generate leads like a businessperson is all about relationships. Be a friend. Don’t sell. Just be a source of information. People will buy from you if they know they can trust you.
The whole idea behind social media is to brand yourself. To have a relationship with your customers, you need to become a part of their social networks. You can do that by putting your Twitter account information on your business cards. That way, when people see you, they’ll automatically know who you are.
The last piece of what is lead generation & how to generate leads like a businessperson is about attitude. If you’re not personally interested in your prospects, you can’t make them. And if you can’t generate leads on the phone, you should be prepared to sell to everyone you meet, because that’s how business works.
